Between São Paulo

Editorial curationItaly · Brazil

The project emerges within a field of attention directed toward what remains culturally whole even under the pressure of commercial simplification.

Brazil

São Paulo

The Italian-Brazilian experience alive, expanded and in constant translation. The layer where Italian culture reinvents itself through displacement.

Italy

Mantova

A reference of measure, form, memory and Italian continuity. The layer where culture remains preserved at its source.

Context

A productive friction.

Sigillo Italiano arises from the encounter between these two layers: a culture preserved at its source and a culture reinterpreted through displacement. It is from this friction - between memory and translation, between permanence and movement - that the editorial criterion emerges.

The curation does not seek to reconcile the two layers. It seeks to keep open the space between them, where genuine Italianness can be distinguished from staged Italianness.

Curatorial method Slow attention. Refusal of excess.

Method

Patient research.

The curation works through slow attention, contextual research and a refusal of excess. Rather than accumulate examples, it seeks to formulate a small number of recognitions with clarity, substance and permanence.

Each case under study passes through an extended period of observation. No decision is taken before the research reaches enough density to sustain an archive entry.
